Michael Lill, M.D.
Medical Director
A graduate of the University of Western Australia, Dr. Lill has had an impressive medical career in the field of stem cell and bone marrow transplantation and currently holds an important position in that field in Los Angeles. Previously, Dr. Lill was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles, California, where he held the position of Director of the Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Processing Laboratory. Dr. Lill is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Blood Banks, the Australian Medical Association and the International Society of Hematotherapy and Graft Engineering. Dr. Lill has published extensively and is a sought-after guest lecturer.
Charles A. Sims, M.D.
Co-Founder and Medical Director
Charles A. Sims, MD, is also co-founder and medical director of California Cryobank, Inc., the parent company of Family Cord Blood Services. He is a board certified pathologist, laboratory director and has served as Chief of Pathology at Century City Hospital, Los Angeles, California. Dr. Sims earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology. He previously served as the Laboratory Director of a large national independent referral laboratory and is the founder of Quantum Clinical Laboratories. Dr. Sims is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Tissue Banks (Standards Committee), American Fertility Society, Society for Cryobiology, The American Association for Advancement of Science, College of American Pathologist (Fellow) and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (Fellow).
Cappy M. Rothman, M.D.
Co-Founder and Medical Director
Cappy Rothman, MD, is co-founder and medical director of California Cryobank, Inc., the parent company of Family Cord Blood Services. He is a board certified urologist and nationally recognized authority on andrology, the urological sub-specialty of male reproductive health and human sperm banking. Dr. Rothman earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency training at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, followed by urological residency training at the University of San Francisco and a urological resident at Loma Linda University. He is on the medical staff at Century City Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is a clinical instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Rothman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society for Cryobiology, American Fertility Society and American Association of Tissue Banks. Dr. Rothman is the author of dozens of scientific articles on male reproductive health and regularly lectures at national medical conferences.
Gary D. Weinhouse, Esq.
Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel

Gary Weinhouse, Esq. serves as Chief Executive Officer & General Counsel of California Cryobank, Inc. and subsidiary Family Cord Blood Services. In this capacity, Gary supervises the operations of the company's two functional divisions: reproductive tissue services and cord blood banking. Gary's previous accomplishments include serving as Managing Director of W Capital Partners, LLC, interim COO/CFO/EVP Legal Affairs for Al & Ed's Autosound, COO/CFO and Secretary of eteamz.com, Inc. and Director of Operations and In House Counsel for Myo Diagnostics, Inc. Gary graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude & Phi Beta Kappa. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA, a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Loyola Law School and a Financial Consulting (PFP) professional designation from UCLA. Gary is a member of the California State Bar (1993) and is licensed to practice in federal courts and California state courts.
Kaj Rydman

Over the past 13 years, Kaj Rydman has been an integral part of California Cryobank’s success as Chief Financial Officer and then as President of Family Cord Blood Services.With an extensive professional career spanning from international marketing to entrepreneurship in Europe and United States, Kaj's contributions have been critical in leading our cord blood division from infancy to rapid growth and expansion, nationally and internationally. As Vice President of Operations of the company's two functional divisions: reproductive tissue services and cord blood banking, Kaj oversees all laboratories and storage operations. Kaj is an alumnus of the Helsinki School of Business and Economics (Finland).
Eddie Jacildo, DLM, MT, CLS
Director of Operations – Laboratory Management
Eddie Jacildo, a board certified medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist and Diplomate in Laboratory Management, was instrumental in the establishment of Family Cord Blood Services. Prior to joining the company in 1997, Mr. Jacildo held the position of Laboratory Supervisor at Response Oncology's IMPACT Center in Glendale, CA, where he coordinated establishment of the company's stem cell processing laboratories. He also previously served as the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor for the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Jacildo holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University. He completed his clinical laboratory training at the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, CA. Mr. Jacildo's professional associations include the International Cord Blood Society, the American Association of Blood Banks, the International Society for Hematotherapy and Graft Engineering, the Blood Bank Society and the Association for Medical Laboratory Technology.
