(CCB). Cord Blood Uses

Cord blood stem cells have been used to treat immune disorders, leukemia, various malignancies, lymphomas, neuroblastoma, severe combines immune deficiencies, and genetic disorders. Stem cell transplantation is a proven treatment in 45 malignant and non-malignant diseases.

Description of Services

Family Cord Blood Services collects, processes and stores umbilical cord blood strictly for use by the parents for their child, siblings or other family members as a safeguard for their future health. Also referred to as “family banking,” banking of cord blood stem cells ensures that an individual will have access to their own, genetically unique cells to treat a wide range of medical conditions, as the need arises.

Differentiation

Family Cord Blood Services is the only private cord blood processing and storage company that is both owned and operated by two nationally renowned physicians, thereby affording much-valued medical oversight of all functions. An on site team of licensed clinical laboratory scientists with extensive blood banking experience implement critical processing and storage functions, rather than outsourcing these services as is prevalent within the industry.

Additionally, the company’s collection kit, which offers unique thermal stability to the precious and fragile cells, coupled with its specialized medical courier, AirNet Express, offers extra measures to maximize the viability of a child's cord blood -- nationally and internationally.

These include accreditation, licensing, and registration with nationally prominent organizations, including the State of New York, the Food and Drug Administration, and the State of California. Family Cord Blood Services has earned accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).

Management

Founders of the parent company CCB, also operate Family Cord Blood Services: renowned physician Dr. Cappy Rothman, a board certified urologist and recognized authority on andrology and Dr. Charles A. Sims, a board certified pathologist and former director of pathology at the Century City Hospital. Medical Director, Dr. Michael Lill, is highly recognized in the field of stem cell and bone marrow transplantation. President Kaj Rydman is at the helm of the company.

Facility

We are pleased to announce that in November 2005 Family Cord Blood Services moved to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Los Angeles, CA.  With four times the amount of storage capacity, the expanded space and advanced capabilities allows us to streamline operations and provide enhanced service to our clients.
